Whilst we do travel far and wide to bring you Indian Style – right from the mountains of Nepal to the sleepy backwaters of Kerala – we are not blind to solutions closer to our Indian base in Goa. So we use a lovely place here in the heart of Panjim that makes a lot of our clothes for us. Namy and his staff at Silk Emporium make manufacturing clothes fun. Always I am greeted with a cheeky smile and lots of chat and chai when I go in to discuss what’s next!
This year we are selling new lines of beach suits, batik patterned trousers and kaftans from Silk Emporium. It is a family business started by Namy’s father in the 50’s – each time I visit either I meet his wife, sister or friends and it is always a lovely atmosphere. The clothes are made in the workshop just behind the main shop, situated in the main square in front of the big church in Panjim if you want to visit on your next holiday to Goa.
Namy is also keen to support us too in our endeavours with the work that Helping Elsewhere does and you will find a donation box on the counter.
